The three Government Colleges - one for Education, one college of Arts and Science for women and the other a centenary and quarter old Rajah \'s college - have been offering higher education in the backward district of Pudukkottai. The laboratories have been appreciated by many of the leading academicians and research scholars and have become the pride of the college. COMPUTER CENTRES Four highly-sophisticated and fully air-conditioned computer centres altogether with 216 pcs and 5 file servers cater to various needs of the departments. LCD service is readily provided by the centre to enliven the classroom lectures. LIBRARYS The posh central library stacked with over 15,000 volumes both recommended in the syllabi and found useful for extentive reference purposes, serves the needs of the studious research scholars and lovers of reading. In addition to the stock of books, a large number of periodicals, science bulletins, journals are subscribed to bring the current developments within the reach of learners. The library is fully computerised making it user-friendly. The specially-created Reference Library for Biological Sciences is enriched with highly expensive, rarely available volumes of books. The MBA library has a large number of volumes in all the fields of Management, periodicals and journals from institutions of national and international repute. TRANSPORT FACILITIES The college plies own buses between Pudukkottai and the college facilitating all day scholars coming from Pudukkottai and its neighbouring villages, to be in time to the college. TERTIARY FACILITIES A commercial complex with a canteen, a telecommunication centre and a reprographic centre caters to the needs of the staff, students and visitors. ACCOMODATION : Home Substituted Hostel facility is available for students. Six blocks, three each for men and women constructed with well-furnished rooms, spacious mess hall, A/c rooms, dormitory type rooms, internet centre, special security arrangements and so on make the hostel life very pleasant for the students. HEALTH CENTRE A Health Centre staffed by a visiting Doctor and a staff nurse offers dispensary service and consultancy for students and the staff. Pharmacy is also available in the Health Centre. A general medical check-up is done to first year PG and UG students every year. The application complete in all respects should reach the Principal within 15 days from the publication of results of the qualifying examinations. 2. Application for P.G. courses should be filed in duplicate. 3. The following certificates in original should be produced at the time of admission. .. i) ........ N.B : The admission is purely provisional and is subject to the approval by the Bharathidasan University or the Higher authorities. PAYMENT OF FEES College fees should be paid within seven days from the date of reopening of each semester. If a student fails to pay the fees, a fine of Rs.5/- per day shall be levied for the next 7 days. If the fee is not paid within the stipulated time, the student \'s name will be struck off the rolls. The students should pay a readmission fee of Rs. 200/- to get himself / herself readmitte. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. It is obligatory on the part of each and every student to obey the rules and comply with the regulations of the college so as to maintain a high standard and discipline which in turn will contribute to the progress and well being of the students. 2. The behaviour of the students should be decent not only within the college but also outside. Their conduct and actions should not cause any disturbance to the class or to other students and also to the public. Their behaviour should ensure peace and amity and develop and atmosphere conducive for good learning. 3. It is advisable that the students greet the members of faculty and other staff on meeting them for the first time in the day. 4. Loitering and making noise in the college campus are forbidden. While moving in the verandahs no one should run but walk in a slow pace and also give way for elders. 5. Avoid standing on the passage and especially leaning against the walls and with one foot on the wall. 6. No one shall enter class rooms and the laboratories without the permission of the teacher in charge. 7. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the college campus and in the Hostel. Students who are found using drugs or in a drunken state or under the influence of drugs will be summarily dismissed from the college. 8. Eve-teasing and ragging are totally prohibited by law. Students found guilty of these crimes will be dismissed from the college immediately. 9. The students should co-operate with the college in keeping the college campus neat and tidy. Defacing of the walls and spoiling or breaking any article of the institution is punishable. Damage caused to the college property will be charged to the accounts of the student(s) concerned. If the student(s) responsible for the damage could not be identified the damages will be charged to the accounts of all the students. 10. Students should park their vehicles only in the place meant for that purpose. Racing the vehicles in the college campus is punishable. 11. The students should attend the classes regularly. They should be within the class room atleast 5 minutes before the commencement of each session. They should not absent themselves without taking leave. The mode of applying for leave is given under attendance rules. 12. The students should take the weekly tests and monthly tests and assignments seriously. Any student ignoring them or showing disinterest will be expelled from the college after due warning. 13. Students are to dress decently observing the social codes befitting the college and they should not wear T-shirts and other casual wears. 14. Students are expected to go through the course fully, in which they have joined. If any student wants to discontinue in the middle, T.C. will be issued only if he/she pays the entire college fees in full, for all the remaining semesters of the course. 15. Any change of residence of student/ parent/ guardian shall be reported to the principal immediately. 16. Students should possess the identity card in the college premises and should produce the same on demand at any time. ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE 1. No student is allowed to absent himself/herself from the college without leave application. 2. The leave application should be submitted to the HOD well in advance. In case of absence due to unanticipated causes, the leave application must be stumitted immediately by post. 3. Students residing in hostel should submit the leave application, counter-signed by the Deputy Warden. 4. Leave application for more than three days must submitted to the principal, along with a Medical Certificate. 5. A student who is absent for one period of the day is considered to be absent for half a day and student who is absent for two periods, will be considered to be absent for the whole day. Order of the HOD: COLLEGE HOSTEL Hostel is a second home which leaves a lasting impression in the life of a student. The management wishes the inmates to feel at home in a positive manner. They can utilize the facilities available in a meaningful and economic way. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Hostellers must occupy the rooms allotted to them and must not change their room without the permission of the Deputy warden. 2. All the inmates should leave the hostel at least 15 minutes before the commencement of the classes. 3. No student is allowed to stay in the hostel during the college hours, without prior permission of the Deputy Warden. 4. Students can do their shopping in the college stores. 5. Attendance is made compulsory during study hours between 8.30 pm and 10.30 pm. 6. Continued absence without permission will result in expulsion. 7. All hostellers are expected to be in the hostel before 6.00 pm. Under unavoidable circumstances, they can be permitted after 6.00 pm with the order of the Deputy Warden. 8. The main gate of the hostel is closed at 6.00 pm and will be opened at 6.00 am next morning. 9. Hostellers can go for an outing with the specific permission of the Deputy Warden only. 10. Hostellers falling sick should report to the Deputy Warden who will take necessary steps for treatment. For minor injuries and ailments, a first-aid box is available with the Deputy Warden. 11. No vehicle can be kept in the hostel. 12. Hostellers can go home once a month, with the approval of the Deputy Warden. 13. The inmates are expected to vacate the room within a day, after the institution closes for vacation or if they are asked to do so for any reason. 14. Hostellers will be held responsible for the damage to the rooms they occupy and things like fan, furniture, tube light switches, toilet, sink etc. In case of damage or disfigurement of any of the hostel property, they will have to pay the cost, as fixed by the Principal and Warden. 15. Students are advised not to bring valuables to the hostel. The Management will not be responsible for any loss, that may be due to their negligence. 16. Visitors/Parents are allowed to meet the inmates on all second and fourth Sundays. They can meet the inmates only in the parlour and, not in their rooms. No visitor is allowed after 6.00 pm. 17. Guests are not permitted to stay in the hostel. However parents will be permitted by deputy warden to stay on payments will be permitted by deputy warden to stay on payments Rs. 50/- per day head, towards rental. They can get the food coupons from the Deputy Warden. 18. No Electrical appliance like tape-recorder, iron-box etc. should be used in the hostel. MESS 19. The hostellers should not enter the kitchen. If the do, a fine of Rs.10/- will be levied. 20. The inmates should take meals, only in the dining hall during the Mess timings. No one will be allowed to take food, tea, milk etc to the room. 21. The menu fixation is the right of the Deputy Warden. 22. The mess bill will be put up on the notice board on 26th of every month and the same will be posted to the parents. Payment should be made before 8th of the following month. If the bill is not paid, Rs.1/- will be levied for each day. 23. Mess reduction will be given to the inmates only if the college is closed for three consecutive days and more. There is no mess reduction in the case of students taking leave on their own. 24. Hostellers are expected to strictly adhere to the timings. 25. Celebration of any kind of party in the hostel is not allowed. 26. Smoking and consuming of alcoholic drinks and any other drugs and intoxicants are strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with this, will be severely dealt with. 27. The inmates are advised not to indulge in noisy disturbances which would spoil the atmosphere. 28. Ragging in any form is a punishable offence under the Government of Tamilnadu Rules. 29. In the matter of discipline, control, accommodation and Rules of the general conduct, the decision of the warden is final. 30. The college wishes the inmates to comply with the rules and regulations and make their stay a pleasant one.
