The aim of the Department is to provide
the best possible exposure to recent trends in Management and
mould budding managers who would in due time emerge as leaders
of industry and captains of business.
The Department offers UG, PG and M.Phil. courses duly approved
by the Bharathidasan University and the AICTE. The programmes
include a variety of electives and areas for specialization. |

The Department is offering the M.Phil.
programme from 2007 – 2008. Two M.Phil. scholars have
completed the degree and two have registered in the current
year. The Department encourages social and management researches,
both among the students and staff. One member of staff is currently
engaged in doctoral research.
To inculcate the aptitude for research among
undergraduates, students are encouraged to take up projects
with the guidance of the teachers. This year three students
have successfully taken up projects and completed them. |

The Department organizes annual off-campus
seminars in metros and industrial centres for first year and
second year MBA students. Experts from different areas of management
are invited to give special lectures. Off-campus seminars were
conducted at cochin in February 2005, Delhi in 2006, Hyderabad
in 2007 and Bangalore in 2008. It is planned to conduct a programme
this year at Bangalore in January 2009.
The Department conducts inter-collegiate competitions for Management
Studies students from other colleges as a national meet under
the name “Prudence” every year in the first week
of March. Cash prizes and shields are awarded to the winners.
The students of MBA classes are permitted to participate in
Management Meets conducted in other institutions. The students
get awarded in these competitions. S.Suresh Kumar of III year
BBA won overall championship and a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-
in the competition “Taking Science to the Common Man”
in a competition conducted in September 2008.
The Department has the practice of conducting a number of special
lectures inviting eminent scholars as resource persons. On an
average about 10 such lectures are organize every year.
The Department arranges classes in communication skills for
the benefit of MBA students. They are also briefed on communication
skill before they attend interviews.
