The J.J Institute of Hotel management and Catering Technology has been offering innovative world class education for a global career and is dedicated to bringing in Global level excellence in the fields of Hospitality and Tourism. The infrastructure development in the Department is of world class standard the Basic Training Kitchen (BTK), Basic Training Restaurant (BTR), Bakery and Confectionary has been recently fully renovated with high polished Marble, Granites tiles used for Flooring. Wood covering on the wall sand a separate wash-up area built adjacent to the Basic Training Restaurant. Students of B.Sc Hotel Management and Catering Science are provided ozonised and UV treated purified water in the laboratory area.
Every year equipment maintenance and purchase is a regular exercise. Student use all equipments to the optimum level. After the renovation of Basic Training Restaurant and Model Guest Room II, Two new Air Conditioners have been installed..

Other Activities

 
The Department organizes an Annual Food Festival every year to motivate the students to develop culinary skills for bulk cooking.

Industrial visits to Hotels, Breweries and Distilleries are also arranged to get to know the manufacturing processes of alcoholic beverages.

A mega Lunch party is hosted for the parents of students during such Food Festivals around 1000 people and the Lunch service programme at our College premises.

The Department has linkages (MoU’s) with 67 leading Star Hotels all over India for students to take up Industrial Training often leading to placement.

.R.Baskar, II Chef, The Grand Hotel, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, United Kingdom delivered special lecture on ”Global Opportunities for Hoteliers” on 04.02.2008.

Mr.Kaboorideen, Head, School of Hospitality, Orchard, School of Arts and Commerce ,Singapore Commercial School, delivered a special lecture on “Study, work and Living in Singapore” in 2008.

 

GOURMET-2008

 
The Food festival for the year 2008 was conducted in the college premises on 09-03-2008. One of the Chief guests was Lilly Khong, Principal, School of Hospitality, Orchard School of Arts and Commerce, Singapore. She delivered a special lecture on “International Global Standard”. Mr.Rajaram Rajagopal, Executive Chef, Hotel Grand Ashok, Bangalore interacted with the students on the skills, knowledge and commitment required for success in provision
