It is also through life. We do not believe in turning out scientists
for ivory tower research. So we were among the first to introduce
a postgraduate course in Social Work in this area. The impact
the Department of Social Work has had on the villages around has
been commendable. They have studied local practices and customs
and promoted developmental awareness among the masses through
field studies.
The Department of Visual Communication was and is unique in its
infrastructure, teaching practices and social commitment expressed
through a slew of extension activities.
The faculty of languages has four branches – English, Tamil,
Hindi and French. They cement and hold all faculties together
and promote linguistic and communicative competence besides training
students for competitive examinations and interviews. The programmes
