| The advances
in Biological Sciences have been stupendous in
the last few decades. Botany and Zoology have branched off into
multi-disciplinary areas like Microbiology, Biotechnology and
Gene Technology. The analysis of cells has refined into DNA analysis
or Gene segregation and fusion, hybridization and cloning. A whole
new area of exciting knowledge awaits the curious student of life
sciences. The experience of learning will be interesting and fulfilling
besides being practically useful and placement-oriented. It was
this that inspired us to open Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses
in frontier areas of challenging disciplines like Biotechnology
and Environmental sciences. |
| |
Our School of Biological Sciences encompasses
the following departments
|
| |
| |
- Department of Biotechnology
- Department of Microbiology
- Department of Gene technology
- Department of Biochemistry
- Department of Botany
- Department of Environmental Science

Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary subject, which gives
in- depth knowledge of Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry,
Genetics, Cell biology and Computers Application in life sciences.
It equips the students to uncover the mysteries of nature
and apply them for the benefit of mankind. A graduation in
biotechnology will open up career opportunities in diagnostic
laboratories, fermentation and food processing industries,
R and D wings of pharmaceutical industries. Agri biotech industries
and a multitude of other areas where expertise in life sciences
is essential.
Our mission is to conduct ground-breaking research in key
areas of biotechnology, to make fundamental discoveries, generate
innovative solutions to practical problems, and develop new
technologies for commercial application. Our department is
committed to providing an exceptional environment for specialized
training and to mentoring tomorrow’s Biotechnology workforce
while promoting economic growth.
The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year
1998.

The Department
has well conditioned and updated equipments in the laboratory,
to provide practical knowledge and promote research. |
| |
The Department
imparts training in various biotechnology courses (UG, PG and
Research) with state of the art technology. The research centre,
has both dry and wet labs, facilitating the students to equip
themselves with the latest and advanced technology, specifically
oriented to the needs of the industry. Limited availability
of trained manpower is a big hurdle for the biotechnology industry
that needs certain specific skill sets. The state of the art
technology designed in this College provides an atmosphere that
abreast keeps of R & D laboratories and bio-pharma industrial
units. |
