As the international language, English has
had primacy of place down the centuries. Today with the increasing
demand for communicative competence in learners of English as
a second language and foreign language, courses of study aiming
to impart communication skills in English have assumed great importance.
There is an increasing demand for teachers of English and trainers
in communication skills who can double up as soft-skills trainers.
This trend is reflected in the number of students seeking admission
to B.A. and M.A. (English Literature) courses. The College has
responded positively to meet the aspirations of such ready learners
by opening courses in English language and literature which have
a pronounced communication bias and an M.Phil. course to meet
the needs of those who aspire to qualify for collegiate teaching
service. |
